Ok, so I haven't updated in about a month. I appologize for that. (If anyone really reads. Haha!) But I got real busy at work and moved to a new position. Not to mention I ust felt completely unmotivated.
However, that's in the past. This past Tuesday I started fitness boot camp. I've never done bootcamp before but saw the amazing results of a lady who lives in the area and thought "wow...that's so inspiring!"
I'm still struggling with eating healthy. I'm so picky. I hate being that way so I am trying to train my son's taste buds to not be the same way. He obviously has his favorites but who doesn't.
Anyway, I'm not sure who has ever participated in a fitness boot camp but I assume they are all pretty similar on the first day. Fitness test. Ugh. You get to see just how out of shape you are. We had to start off running a mile as fast as we could. Mine was 13:15. I thought it would have been better but I'm going to say the small hill on the back end of each lap was killer. Haha! Then, the following stations afterwards were one minute intervals of different exercises where we had to count how many we could complete in a minute. We did jumping jacks, step ups, sit ups, push ups, and squats. I'm sure we did other things that required counting but I can't remember at this point. Some things I did great. Others...not to much. It's to be expected. But we'll have to do it all over again the last day.
So, my goal is to run a mile on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and do boot camp Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Sunday's will be my off day. My mile should get better each week if I push myself. Which is the goal of boot camp in my opinion. Thursday's mile was 12:30 so there's a tiny bit of improvement. Oh, and I am also running my mile on a slight incline to acclimate myself to that little hill at the park. Good idea, eh?
I'm not really focusing on increasing my numbers on the other exercises because that will automatically get better with the normal boot camp sessions since we do variations of them three times a week. We don't run a mile during those sessions.
My cardio endurance is getting better and I am building muscles. So, I may not see weight loss on the scale but I should notice some toning and lost inches. This week I lost about .4 pounds but I feel thinner. If you've been reading then you know I am totally ok with this. Just because you weigh more does not mean you are not thinner. Muscle weighs more than fat but burns more calories when you are resting. I think I'm just having a hard time with MyFitnessPal telling me I can only eat 1290 calories a day. This does take into account exercise and adjusts accordinly based on my daily exercise I log but there is no way it can take into account the calories I am burning at rest if I am building muscle. It's a little disheartening so I've pretty much stopped logging anything. And I'm not going to live on salads. This girl likes her meat.
Oh, and the Paleo thing? It's nearly impossible if the whole household is not on the same page. I do make a conscious effort to make paleo choices if the options are available but for the most part I don't. It definitely requires menu planning which I totally suck at. For instance, I could plan to eat steak and veggies tonight but by the time I get ready to cook I may not want steak and veggies. Then what? I haven't thawed out any other meat. It's all downhill from there.
So, those are my current challenges. It's mostly the food. As always. I wish I didn't love food so much. Or at least bad foods. It may be time to start retraining the tastebuds again. We'll see how up to that I really am.
