My computer has been out of commission for a while so I haven't updated in a long time mainly because I've really only had access to my phone. My husband brought a loaner home from work but we share it and well yeah. You know how well computers are shared. That's why we all have our own computing devices.
Anyway, during this time I have decided I'm going to train for a 5k. I haven't had much of a goal except to lose weight and tone up and I'm not doing too great at that. Going to the gym is more of a hassel than it is rewarding so I decided I can get fresh air three or four times a week and run around my neighborhood. It's working great so far. And it's much more rewarding than running in place on a treadmill. But with the time change and this whole dark by 6:00pm thing I may have to go back to running in the gym since I don't even get home until 5:30 at the earliest. Yeah, I know that's 30 minutes but I still have to change and warm up. By the time I actually get to the running part I have only about 15 minutes of daylight left. Which is plenty of time but doesn't allow me to complete my workout like I want.
Training is going well so far. I don't know which 5k I want to do but I want to be ready for one before signing up. I may do the training twice before I sign up mainly because I get about three runs in a week but they are really inconsistent. I also try to lift weights for about 30 minutes on my off days but that too is spotty.
That being said, I also set another goal. The East Texas area is hosting a regional weight loss challenge and I formed a small team with two other people. Weigh in was last week and I actually lost a pound the week leading up to weigh in. Lol! The official last weigh in day is May 4th. (May the 4th be with my nerdy friends.) The grand prize is a car. Not a car I want but luckily their are other prizes like trips, fitness packages, etc. I'm not really in it to win it. My goal is to lose 10% of my current body weight. Perfectly doable. That's roughly 15 pounds. And hopefully with a team I can stick to it. I've been doing well with limiting my sugar intake and snacking. My meals are getting smaller. Not neccesarily healthier but it's a start. Because if you've been reading you know I struggle with the whole healthy food thing the most.
I am excited about having a running buddy tomorrow. If anyone lives around me and wants to run I am always up for it. Just hit me up on Facebook.
