So the story goes...

So, I've decided to chronicle my fitness journey online for all of the world to see.  I'm by no means a gym rat.  Nor do I really know what I am doing at this point.  All I know is that I want to be a hot mom.  Oh, and feel better, sleep better, look better.  Yeah those things too.

So, that being said, I'll give you a little background.

I hail from this wonderful little place known as East Texas.  And frankly, there is a mexican food joint (Tex-Mex if you really want to get to heart of it) on every corner.  Needless to say, it's my favorite food.  Bad for me?  Yes.  Do I care?  Not at all.

I'm 28, have a Master's Degree in Business Administration and have been married for almost five years with a son that is about to turn one.  (Yey!  We've almost made it to the toddler stage.)  Most of my life I played softball and was in marching band.  Now that I have a somewhat big girl job and a family things have slowed down in that aspect.  Though, I do occasionally find a co-ed slow pitch softball team to play for.  I can't help it.  I love the game.

Most of my life I weighed about 135 pounds.  Not bad for a girl that always ate whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted and was five foot six inches tall.  I wore pants in that strange girl number of 6 and I was comfortable with my body.  For the most part.  It was flabby in some areas and pasty white as hell.  (Oh yeah, speaking of hell, if you are offended by bad language, you might as well skip this blog.  It's probably going to have some not so lady like words every so often.)  I'm still pasty white.  Partly due to being allergic to the sun.  That's no joke.  Really.  I break out in a rash everywhere I am exposed.  But I'm often a glutton for punishment and get out in the sun anyway.

Anyway, back to the whole food, inactive, flabby part.  I started dating my husband during my last semester while obtaining my undergraduate degree.  It was then I gained my Freshman 15.  Oops.  I mostly blame it on the fact that I worked a retail job where I slept late three days a week, worked from 1:00pm to 8:00pm and only really ate once a day.  I was fine with that.  My body was fine with that.  The world was in sync and at peace.  Well, the ol' future in-laws liked to cook for me and I felt guilty turning them down.  So almost every evening after having eaten during my shift around 4:00pm, I'd mosey on over to their house and eat another full meal four hours later.

And then it started.  We all know your metabolism slows down as you get older.  I was twenty three.  Ok, so it wasn't that old but still.  I wasn't in high school anymore.  Nor Junior College where I was still in marching band.  I was now eating two full meals in a span of four hours (out of guilt...a big no no) and nowhere near as active as I used to be.

I eventually found myself wearing a size 12 in those funny girl sizes and much thicker in the waist than I was comfortable with.  After transferring to the corporate office and dealing with stress and whatnot, I managed to maintain the weight but nothing else.  Then one day, after talking with a friend who had taken some weight loss class the company paid for and after getting some tips from her, I decided to cut out all processed sugars and eat only when hungry.  Genius!  I know!

Long story short, this started at the same time a departmental weight loss challenge started and over the course of 12 weeks I successfully lost 15 pounds and kept it off by only eliminating sugar and snacking.  I was now back down to 140-143 pounds.  I felt better, looked better and was happy.

Then I got pregnant.  I'm not kidding.  It was probably 3 months later.  What the fracking-A?!?  I gained about 40 pounds during my pregnancy but it was literally all baby weight and water.  I buttoned my old pants six days after having him and was back down to 143 pounds by week six postpartum.  Awesome right?!

Well, most of the rapid weight loss was due to breast feeding.  Yes ladies, if that isn't an incentive I don't know what is.  But starting around month four I started putting the pounds back on.  I was craving sugar, eating it like it was going out of style and nowhere near drinking the amount of water I should.  Today, I find myself back to the 155 pounds I weight before losing all of the weight before I got pregnant.

And this is where my journey begins.
