So after the delicious temptation of ballpark food at the Ranger's game it's back to the grindstone.
Tonight I tried out "Ab Lab". I don't really feel like I got a lot out of it mainly because some of the moves I am incapable of doing. At least right now. There is this side plank sort of thing that I think I've seen in yoga videos that hurt my bony little elbows. I could do it otherwise but the hard floor on my elbow? Ouch! Maybe I should bring a couple of towels to class to prop up on. But then again, my knees on the hard floor hurt too. I'll give it another go but I may just stick to the ab workout the trainer gave me. It wasn't too intense but I felt it more.
I'm saying all this as if I've gone to bed and woke up the next day feeling like a million bucks. Tomorrow morning could be a totally different ballgame.
I will say this. In the first five minutes I got a heck of a butt workout. That mess was hurting like crazy! But what gets me the most is the old women I see in these class showing me up. It hurts my pride a bit. Ok. A lot. They are doing some of these moves like they are nothing. I'd like to get to that point but right now I think I'm more comfortable in the weight room.
Anyway, today's workout started with a 15 minute brisk walk on the treadmill. My distance was .85 miles. I was shooting for a mile but didn't want to wear myself out before I did my weights and the class. So it was more of a warm up.
My weight session consisted of 20 reps of leg extensions followed by a combo bicep curl/ chest press with two eight pounds weights. I repeated this twice. Normally I would throw in 15 of this ab workout where I lay on my back and raise my legs in the air as high as I can get them but I didn't want to exhausted my ab muscles before the ab class. In retrospect, I wish I had gone ahead and done it. After repeating the above twice I did this little move on the machine for my triceps. I used 30 pounds of weight and pulled down on this little rope thingy 15 times. (Are you enjoying all of my technical verbage?) I then did 15 squats with no weight. I almost threw in the weight but thought better of it. I am glad I didn't because there was a lot of burning action in the top and outer thigh area. I would have done my 10 crunches but well...you've already heard my excuse. Again, I wish I had gone ahead and done them. And again, wash, rinse, repeat for two sets.
Tomorrow is Zumba. If I get in a little early I will throw in my ab exercises.
Lunch was mostly a salad with a couple of pieces of pizza. Yeah yeah. Save the that's fattening speech for someone who cares. I'm going with a no sugar diet for now. Last time I lost the weight I went off sugar and stopped snacking and lost it all in 12 weeks. I still ate everything else I wanted. This time, I'm just throwing in some cardio and weights. Anyway, dinner was pulled bbq chicken sandwiches on whole wheat bread with green beans and black beans. Dinner was actually pretty healthy except that the bbq sauce had high fructose corn syrup. WTF? Why does bbq sauce need HFCS? Granted, I ate less than the 2 tablespoon serving size but still. That shite is bad for you. It's highly processed and blocks your body's ability to register that you are full. Thus? You overeat. Winning...
I contemplated weighing in tomorrow but since I technically didn't weight the first time until Tuesday evening I am going to weigh Wednesday morning. I'm hoping for about one pound. Slow and stead progress is still progress.
On that note, I will leave you with this interesting tidbit I read this morning about the benefits of drinking lemon water.
